Our suite of powerful, easy-to-use software tools, the RuleStream system, helps
manufacturers, engineers, and designers improve and accelerate the design
process by:
• Enabling your experts to very easily enter and maintain product know-how
(rules and processes) in a relational database that can be shared, versioned and
controlled
• Utilizing your product knowledge in real time within a suite of off-the-shelf
applications that allow your engineers and sales reps to produce high quality
proposals and designs quickly, accurately, every time
• Driving CAD and being deeply integrated with CAE, PDM, CRM, MRP, ERP, and
legacy data systems, to leverage your investments in software automation
• Taking complex input and requirements to generate (in collaboration with
specialized 3rd party applications) proposals, quotes, bills-of-material, 3D
models, 2D drawings, routings, and reports
What are the benefits of using RuleStream software for
manufacturers?
RuleStream enables the automation of every step of the product development
cycle—from conceptual design through manufacturing, including field and in-house
sales—while maintaining design flexibility and facilitating innovation.
Manufacturers leverage RuleStream solutions for efficiently and cost-effectively
managing product knowledge, leveraging company rules, implementing best
practices, and automating design processes for product designs created in their
CAD systems. By capturing any rule or process related to a customer’s product
and executing them in real-time on the desktop of sales, engineering and
manufacturing work groups, our solutions enable customers to:
• Design and configure to order highly engineered products up to 10 times faster
• Automatically import customer requirements and seamlessly communicate design
data downstream
• Harness, protect and preserve enterprise-wide product knowledge
• Build mass customization capabilities quickly and affordably
• Track and monitor rule changes and their effect on product, process and design
quality
• Improve training efficiency and new employee productivity
• Provide both a foundation and a feedback loop for continuous improvement
What are the main functional modules of the system?
The following diagram summarizes the way the RuleStream system and its main
modules work together:

Knowledge Capture — RuleStream Architect
provides a point-and-click authoring interface that allows customers to define,
manage and secure their knowledge in a centralized database. Rules can be
tracked via knowledge source, status, last change date, history, context and
other means.
Knowledge Administration— RuleStream Platform Server provides a
relational database repository for the storage and management of rules and
design models. ERP/MRP systems can receive BOMs directly without custom code or
integration work.
Knowledge Application— RuleStream Engineer leverages the knowledge
contained in RuleStream Platform to automatically create partial or complete 3D
CAD and analysis models that speed the design process and eliminate tedious
engineering activities.
Knowledge Analysis — RuleStream Enterprise Knowledge Server runs
reports against rules and product models to determine the quality of the rule
base and design processes. RuleStream Enterprise Knowledge Server can help
customers determine the effects of manual intervention in the design process.
