KBE (Knowledge Based Engineering)
A system for capturing and utilizing product knowledge, commonly used
for automating repetitive or routine design processes.

Meta-Data
A set of data that describes other data.
For instance, a data object which describes a CAD file, and could include
attributes such as: part number, description, file name, etc.

PDM (Product Data Management)
A strategy for managing data and files related to a product, or the software
that is used to manage data and files related to a product.
PLM (Product Lifecycle Management)
PLM is recognized as an information technology-enabled business strategy that
involves capturing and leveraging all information generated throughout the
product lifecycle through standardized and automated business processes.
It includes other disciplines, such as PDM and RPM.

RPM (Rules-Driven Product Management)
RPM is enterprise software that allows discrete
manufacturers to respond to customer-specific orders more rapidly, accurately
and cost-effectively. RPM is an integral part of a Product Lifecycle Management
(PLM) environment that supports product development activities.

Vault
In the context of Product Data Management (PDM), a vault is a secure
location where data files are kept and controlled.

Workflow
The defined path of a process throughout an organization, or the software
which enforces and tracks a process as it proceeds through different locations
or participants.
